Who runs PlayPc

The PlayPc developer runs the app and its SharkPond performance server. Reports are stored on that server. Questions go to the address under Contact.

Data sharing

  • On is the initial sharing choice. PlayPc asks before sending optional performance reports, diagnostics and temporary online status. Existing saved choices stay in effect. Playing and purchases work with either choice.
  • Performance profiles and library results download with sharing on or off. Turning sharing off stops new optional messages.
  • If you sign in, SharkPond stores your username, trial and Full Access records. Apple handles payments.
  • Report a Problem sends your message, screenshot and session-log excerpt with private fields removed only when you press Send.

Your privacy

  • PlayPc has no ads and does not sell ads.
  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • Performance reports contain no saves or game files. Steam Cloud can sync saves directly with Steam. Shared error reports use excerpts with private fields removed.

Summary

PlayPc requests performance profiles and library compatibility even with sharing off. Those requests contain game keys, app build, profile catalogue, launched program file names and device model as applicable. No optional report or online status is sent before you choose Share. Not now keeps sharing off. With sharing enabled, performance reports are sent every two minutes of play and when a session ends, and temporary online status is sent once a minute while open. Your saved choice stays in effect. Settings, Accounts stops new optional messages. Account details and personal paths are removed from diagnostic excerpts.

Share Performance Data

What is sent

  • Game: store, app ID, title and launched program file name.
  • Programs: file names within the game’s install folder and seconds run.
  • Device: model identifier, operating-system major/minor version, core counts and memory size.
  • CPU: median and 95th-percentile use, median thread count, seconds in each device temperature state and Low Power Mode.
  • Frame rate: time and frame counts, averages, lows, frame times, worst frame, stutter and hang counts, pacing mode and render dimensions.
  • Memory: 95th-percentile RAM/GPU use and RAM limit.
  • Settings: values from a fixed list of app settings.
  • Runtime: memory, graphics, audio and system measurements recorded while the game runs. Disk-space values stay on the device.
  • Diagnostics: error counts and excerpts with private fields removed, crash signals/codes, native stacks, hangs and memory-limit exits. Saved failures retain the recorded game title, build and device model.
  • App: build and performance profile version and settings in use.
  • Performance counters: operation names and counts from PlayPc. Never game code, memory addresses, files or text.
  • Receipt: a random value for one report, kept on the device for deletion. It is not tied to an account, device or other reports.

What is never sent or stored

  • Your name.
  • Account names, including your Steam user name.
  • Email address.
  • Contacts.
  • Location.
  • Device name.
  • Device identifiers, including the vendor identifier and the advertising identifier.
  • IP address. The server sees it while a report is in transit, as every internet connection does, and does not store or log it.
  • File paths.
  • Saves and screenshots.
  • Game files and game code.
  • Game code, memory addresses, file paths, identifiers or user information in performance counters.
  • Full session logs, account names, credentials and personal paths. Optional diagnostics contain cleaned excerpts.

Why

Each report shows how a game runs on your device. The server turns the reports for a game into a performance profile for that game. The app downloads the profile before the game starts and uses it for that session. A newer profile that arrives while you play takes effect a few seconds later. A game can run faster without an app update. A performance profile only chooses between code already inside the app, never adds features and never changes what the game shows.

How

  • On is the initial choice. Choose Share to start optional reports and online status, or Not now to keep them off. Saved choices stay in effect. Settings, Accounts changes sharing immediately.
  • Performance profiles download with sharing on or off. Profile requests contain the game key, app build and profile catalogue.
  • Community frame rates and compatibility download with sharing on or off. Requests contain game keys, launched program file names and device model.
  • With sharing enabled, online status contains a temporary launch ID, current game, program file name and device model. Turning sharing off or leaving the app stops new status messages; an active status receives one final leaving message. The server keeps only the latest message per ID, in memory, for 150 seconds, without an address.
  • Performance reports are encrypted with the server’s public key. Only the server can read them.
  • The server stores reports under the day they arrived. Show Last Upload displays the exact report before sealing.
  • Disk-space values are used locally for display and storage checks and removed from outgoing performance reports.

Who receives the data

Only the PlayPc performance server. Reports are never sold, never given to another company, and never used for advertising or tracking. PlayPc contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.

Sharing controls

Share Performance Data controls performance reports, diagnostics and temporary online status. You can inspect the last upload, stop new messages and delete sent reports using the controls in PlayPc.

Stopping sharing

Turn Share Performance Data off. New reports stop. Profile requests continue. Reports already sent stay until you delete them or the retention period ends.

Deleting your reports

Reports carry no identifier, so the receipts on your phone are the only way to find them. Delete My Reports in the app sends every receipt this phone holds, and the server deletes those reports. No one else, including the developer, can pick out your reports, because nothing in them points to you. This is how the GDPR's right to erasure (Article 17) works here. Article 11 applies to every other request: the developer does not collect the data that would be needed to identify you.

Retention

The server deletes each single report 90 days after the day it arrives. It keeps totals per game and device model. Totals contain no single report and cannot be traced to anyone.

Your right to complain

You can complain to the data protection authority where you live, where you work, or where you believe a problem happened.

SharkPond account

SharkPond uses the same username for the same verified Apple Account across its apps. Before store sign-in, you can save a birth date on this device or close the page without saving one. If you later sign in to SharkPond and the account has no birth date, PlayPc sends the saved year, month and day with your account session. Saving a date while signed in sends it immediately when the account needs one. The server stores it to calculate your age, refuses later changes, and removes it when you delete the account. Birth dates are excluded from performance reports.

An account is optional. You can create one with Sign in with Apple. It gives a 3 day trial and holds PlayPc Full Access.

  • Sent at sign in: the identity token and authorization code that Apple gives the app, and a one-time nonce. The server checks them with Apple and keeps the Apple user identifier so the same Apple Account finds the same SharkPond account. Your name and email are not requested.
  • Stored: the user identifier from Apple, the username you pick, when the account was made, the trial end date, and whether the account holds PlayPc Full Access.
  • Full Access: when you buy PlayPc Full Access or subscribe to PlayPc Full Access Weekly, the app sends the App Store's signed transaction for that purchase so the server can mark your account as Full Access, and for the subscription, until when. The server checks it with Apple. Payment details never reach the developer.
  • Access checks: while you are signed in, the app asks the server whether the account can play, when it starts, when it returns to the foreground, every 10 minutes, and before a game or container starts. Each check sends the session token and the app build.
  • Deleting: Settings, Accounts, Delete Account removes the account, its username, its sessions and its Full Access record from the server, and asks Apple to revoke Sign in with Apple. When Apple cannot be reached, the app tells you how to stop using Sign in with Apple for PlayPc in Settings. A purchase made with your Apple Account can still be restored on any device with Restore.

Friends and game activity

While you are signed in to SharkPond, PlayPc sends your account session token and online state once a minute while the app is in the foreground. With Share With Friends enabled, it also sends the plain name shown for the active game in your own library and the platform "pc". Titles come from the user's running session. This request contains no game artwork, screenshots, game files, program paths, device identifiers or performance data.

Only accepted, unblocked SharkPond friends receive your online state and current game title. Friends works across SharkPond apps. Pending requests and blocked players receive no activity. Visible Friends refreshes every 15 seconds. Turning Share With Friends off clears the stored title immediately and keeps online state available. This setting is separate from Share Performance Data.

Stopping a game clears its title. Leaving the app sends an offline message. Signing out stops account heartbeats. If an offline message cannot arrive, the server stops presenting the activity 120 seconds after the last heartbeat. The database keeps at most the latest presence row for the account until it is cleared or the account is deleted; it does not build a game activity history. Expired rows are hidden from friends.

Discord game status, when separately enabled and linked, uses the plain current game name without game artwork. Game names identify what the user is playing and do not claim a publisher's sponsorship or endorsement.

Shared game library

With Share Game Library enabled, PlayPc sends the names and store identifiers of Steam, Epic Games and GOG games in your library with your SharkPond account session. Local program paths, game files and saves are excluded. SharkPond combines these entries with games shared by its other apps, including games with no earned trophies. Only you and accepted, unblocked friends can view the library. Turning Share Game Library off hides the library from friends and stops new library uploads. Stored entries remain available to you until the account is deleted.

Report a Problem

Report a Problem in the in-game menu sends a report only when you press Send. It contains a screenshot of the game, the end of the session log with private fields, file paths and interpreter data removed, your username, the game title, the device model, the iOS version, the app build and your message. Reports are used only to fix PlayPc and are deleted 90 days after they arrive. Free accounts can send 2 reports a day and Full Access accounts 5.

Everything else

  • Performance reports contain no saves, game files or screenshots. Steam Cloud can sync saves directly with Steam using your Steam account. Report a Problem attachments are sent only on Send.
  • Uploading a controller preset sends its name, layout and game key to PlayPc's preset service so others can download it. This happens only when you choose Upload.
  • Steam, Epic Games and GOG sign-in connects your device directly to that store. The store's privacy policy applies.
  • Artwork, descriptions and store tools download from Steam, Epic Games, GOG and GitHub. These services see your IP address.
  • Windows programs you run can make their own internet connections.
